KitchenAid KSB560OB Review

Probably the most silent of all tabletop blenders in the market.

8 Overall Score Reviewed By Experts

Our quest for finding a great blender brought us to KitchenAid KSB560OB, pity we did not come across this earlier. When we received the blender, it came in three pieces that are easy to put together and consisted of the cap cup, the 56-Oz jar and the base. At first sight, it appeared sturdy and durable. However, we were not too pleased about the plastic jar, which had a unique design and we realized it only later what the purpose of this unique designed served. We will come to that later in the review. Furthermore, we liked the powerful motor and thought that the concept of keeping the blade fixed to the jar was a good idea, as there was less work involved in putting the blender together. But, we also wondered whether we would be able to clean it which later proved to be an unnecessary concern.

We liked the blender even with its flaws and thought it was quick and efficient. If you are looking for a quiet blender, this may not be the right choice for you. This said, you may not find too many “quiet, yet capable” blenders in the market.

About the KitchenAid KSB560OB

Ease of Use:

While the blender is easy to use and the controls are smooth, we did find a flaw with the pitcher. The blade attachment is connected to the jar with the help of a plastic nut. Many users have complained that with frequent use, the nut loosens and tightening it proves to be progressively ineffective. This causes the blender to gradually develop a leak at the base. Thankfully, KitchenAid has taken care of this issue by changing the design of the jar, which does seem to have made a huge impact. The Intelli Speed® control adjusts the speed of the motor based on the thickness of the ingredients. In other words, the thicker the stuff in the jar, the faster the motor runs. Furthermore, we found the control panel easy to use. The 56-ounce jar comes with drain holes, ensuring that no food particles get trapped inside. Finally, the jar is dishwasher-safe, making cleaning easy.

Motor and Horsepower:

The KitchenAid KSB560OB comes with a powerful and compact 0.9 horsepower motor. If you peer through the pitcher, you will be able to see a steel reinforced coupler with cogs. We felt that the coupler gives more power to the blades. Also, the design of the base is such that there is always sufficient ventilation to prevent overheating of the motor during long continuous runs.

Noise and Space:

While the manufacturer states that this is a quiet blender, well, we found that the KitchenAid KSB560OB is not that quiet at all. Honestly, if something looks like a blender, works like a blender then it ought to sound like a blender and the KSB560OB fulfills all of the above! Thankfully, it isn’t loud enough to cause headaches or irritate the neighbors. In fact, compared to most other blenders, this one is definitely quieter!

We noticed that the blender had a deceptive appearance. It looked too high to fit in the space between the countertop and cabinet. At a height of 16 inches, the blender is actually easy to store deep in the cabinet.

Options and Features:

The KitchenAid KSB560OB comes with 5-speed control and this gave us the option to use whatever speed we wanted to get the right consistency. The Slow Start feature in the blender is highlighted quite a bit by the manufacturer, but we didn’t really feel the need for it. The blades initially rotate slow but within no time they attain the speed you select. This results in the ingredients splashing against the lid with a reduced force, preventing possible spillage with liquid ingredients.

The pulse mode can be used with all the five speeds, so that was an additional point in our books. The control pad on the base of the blender is easy to read and we love that it can be cleaned with a single wipe of a rag.

Warranty & Service:

The KitchenAid KSB560OB comes with one year replacement warranty. This is impressive, as the whole process is easy and hassle-free. If the blender fails within the first year, the manufacturer replaces it free of cost. The replacement blender is sent to your home and there are no questions asked other than your name, shipping address and the proof of purchase for the faulty blender. While the warranty is limited to just one year, we really liked that the manufacturer believes in its own product enough to offer a complete replacement promise.

Conclusion:

While the KitchenAid KSB560OB is not as quiet as advertised by the manufacturer, it has many features that let you overlook the noise it makes. It is quick, efficient and easy to use. We feel that the push button control panel is easy to use and the shatter-proof jar impressive – it can even double up as a serving pitcher. Moreover, the motor is powerful enough to make smoothies, baby food, dips and sauces quickly and smoothly. The cord storage feature hidden in base is also innovative and handy. The KSB560OB is definitely worth having around.
